   January 21st is National Hugging Day!

   Did you know that hugging is extremely effective because

   hugging is a natural healer!

   It can help improve sickness, disease, loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress.

   You know how good it feels to get a hug don’t you? We should do it every day!

In main town squares there are sometimes strangers giving out random ‘free hugs’ to anyone who wants one. Why don’t you give it a go and see how much better you feel!

So why do you feel better when your hugging?

    • Well it increases your happy hormones for a start!

    • Hugging also boosts levels of another hormone in the body which helps to lift your mood

    • You feel loved and special when someone hugs you and this raises your self-esteem

    • It makes you feel safe and builds trust which can lead to better communication in any relationship

    • Its great for your muscles! You will feel all the tension you have been holding onto begin to release

    • A hug stops you in the present so momentarily you forget your worries and its been shown to be good for your mind like a mini meditation.
